During his travels Devaryn found increasingly druidic cultures, and met with faerie folk he once thought existed only in myth. In the depths
of a forgotten forest he encountered Elves, whose culture he immediately grew to love. He lived on the outskirts of the Elven community for a
year, until they began to accept him as a friend and neighbor. Devaryn felt a strong kinship with the Elves and their love of nature, the arts and
music, and the pursuit of perfection both physically and mentally. Here, for a brief time in his life, he felt as if he belonged, and was truly at peace.
War came to the Elves in the form of roving bands of mercenaries, who were scouring the land in search of treasure and glory. Devaryn
took up arms alongside his newfound family, and fought against one such group who called themselves the Dogs of War, from the Kingdom
Sukanar. On the battlefield he barely recognized his younger brother, Zolothan, who amazed him with his bloodlust and skill with the sword.
Devaryn fought his way to his brother, who turned upon him as if he were one of the Elves. Only after a pitched duel, in which both
brothers were severely injured, did Devaryn disarm and defeat his younger brother. The mercenary band of Kingdom Sukanar had all been slain
as well, and Devaryn took his brother to be healed amongst the Elves. To thank Devaryn for his assistance in the battle, the Elves bestowed upon
him the surname of Sulynari.
While they healed, the brothers were at first like strangers, but slowly began to remember their familial bond. Devaryn realized that his
absence during the last several years had bereft his brother of a proper role model, who as a result had grown up tempestuous and full of anger,
and had ran away from home at a very young age. Devaryn now saw it as his duty to repair the damage that had been done, and to help his
brother grow into a good man.
Once they had healed, Devaryn and his brother set out to continue the exploration of this previously undiscovered land, which the Elves had
named Taurendor. They witnessed a growing darkness mustering on the borders of the realm, a force of evil known as Mordarth, and notified
the Elves of this danger. To meet this growing threat they formed a band of rangers, gathering up other wanderers and the nearby Elves, into a
military force to meet and fight this enemy. War again soon shrouded the land of Taurendor, and Mordarth was eventually defeated, but at the
cost of many lives. The rangers had been all but slain, and the nature of the realm had been changed from a peaceful paradise into a war-torn
battlefield.
Devaryn and Zolothan had both come to love Taurendor as their home. After another year a new threat arose, this time a horde of
green-skinned Orcs calling themselves the Urk Kuldar. This new enemy would be a scourge upon the land, with nothing to stand in their way,
unless something was done. The brothers set out to gather up the best fighters in the realm, to train and become the elite defenders of the land.
On their way they met with a wandering Welsh knight named Owen Wyndhaven. He told them of the failed Crusades, and the wars he had
fought overseas, and took them under his wing as squires while joining in their quest.
Eventually, both Devaryn and Zolothan were recognized for their skills and for their service to Taurendor, and were each granted the title of
Knight. They continued the call to arms across the realm, summoning all great warriors under one flag, calling themselves the Order of Tauren,
to fight against any who would threaten the land.
